Hello, my name is Brian and I have just joined your forum. I am from Cambridge in England. I am a hydraulic engineer and I have just bought my first Harley Davidson. It is a 2003 Road King Classic Anniversary model in Gunmetal pearl. It has only covered 240 dry miles since new and shines like a new pin. The previous owner has put some very tasteful accessories on it. I have owned several large British and Japanese bikes in the past, but never anything as awesome as the RK.
I'd been out of the saddle for many years, and now I find myself at a point in my life without any kids to support and a house mortgage that is virtually nothing, so I decided to treat myself to my lifes dream before I am to old to enjoy it, (I'm 51 ). I will probably have the odd question to ask you all about the bike from time to time if I can't find the answer in any previous posts. After all you are the experts...you made 'em. My Harley is intended for pleasure use only on sunny dry days for me and the wife to get away from the rat race and just cruise around without a care in the world....I'll post a photo of my bike when I work out how to do it.... Speak to you all again later.
Welcome Brian. Lots of people from several nationalities post here. I am from the UK too - I have a Sportster 1200C. Bought it new in September 2004 and have done about 1000 miles before the snow and rain kicked in. I am really enjoying the HD friendliness that comes with owning one. I already have my sights set on something bigger although the costs in this country are way high - our friends in the US pay much less than we do for all things HD and I am a bit jealous of their wide open spaces and long roads too. That aside, there seems to be a wealth of experience and advice available for free - the folks that contribute here are a good bunch.
Glad you found us...on the pics thing...go down to the Forum Issues and check out the top post. There is a pretty good description there. Let me know if you have any trouble.
Howdy Brian and welcome to Harley Country. I understand what it's like to finally achieve your dream of owning a Harley. Hope that you have a lot of fun riding through the countryside. ENJOY THE RIDE
