New rider here. Haven't riden a motorcycle since I was about 14 zipping around the back yard on a 80cc trail bike. So I'm basically brand new to riding. My dad always had a bike growing up and I've always wanted one. Figured it was about time. Now I'm hoping I'm able to get the hang of things (clutch, shifting, etc.) without too much trouble.
It's a 2007 883 Lowrider with 1901 miles. Gorgeous condition!
I'm about 5'8, so the 883L was a good fit for me as a first bike. I've rented a Nightster twice and liked it a lot. Didn't really do much on it though, just rode around a parking lot and whatnot just to get the feel for it. Took me a little while to get the feel of the clutch, and I'm still going to need a good deal of practice.
Going to start riding on the back roads around home to get the hang of riding on the road and go from there.
Anyways, here's the bike. Got it from a used biker dealer in Gastonia, NC and it's being delivered later this week. Looking forward to riding and participating here...
[sm=welcomesign.gif] , congratulations, and[sm=signs003.gif]. IMHO, you should take the MSF new rider safety course. It'll help you and everyone else on the road. Peace.
I see you've already taken the riding course, which is a good start. What your doing with practising in a deserted parking lot is a good way to go. If and when you decide to venture out onto the roads make sure its at times when traffics going to be light and the roads dry. At first you have lots to think about with the controls so if you can minimise on other factors it will make life easier for you.
I dont know whats available in the States but feel sure there will e other riding courses you could sign up for if it would help.
Good luck and ride safe.
