Thank you all for the warm welcome! I'll move out into the regular forum areas after this but to just update my well wishers:
I spent the day at the local HD dealership yesterday (Buford, Georgia). As soon as I walked through the door, I couldn't wipe the smirk off my face as I knew I had finally arrived "home". Life long dream for me and I'm 50 now. Met lot's of good down to earth people. I've narrowed down my search between three bikes - a 2008 Fat Bob (Flat black), a used 2007 Fat Bob flat black with re-worked pipes for sound (awesome sound) and a 2007 Night Rod for $14.7 (needs both tires replaced). I got a chance to crank the 07 Fat Bob with the reworked pipes - better than sex...
I'm torn between the Night Rod and the Fat Bobs. I really don't need the speed of the Night Rod but I like the look. I felt more comfortable on the Bob with the Night Rod's reach being a little long for me (I'm 6'.0"). Anyway that's where I am.
Welcome from the Mountains of Southwest Virginia. IMOP, +1 on what Scoteh said. You don't want to plan or be caught out on a long ride and get the Monkey Butt so bad you can't enjoy the reason your out there for anyway "The Ride". Best of luck and ride safe.
