I'm recently divorced and ready to live out a life long dream of owning a Harley-D. I've just started the research process but I know I would love a new V-Rod or the totally nasty looking VRSCDX Night Rod. I suspect a new night rod is going to be cost prohibitive for me - maybe even a used one so the V-Rod is in my sights. I'm already approved for financing $20k at 6.74% x60 but I'll be shopping for a better loan as well.
I have mostly dirt-bike riding experience and have not been on a street machine since the early 80's.
I envision riding the bike on weekends up into the North Georgia mountains, hope to hook up with a club at some point and would like to know that my bike choice might be comfortable enough for inter-state travel here and there. Mabe even Sturgis or the West Coast what the hell... I would also love to be able to ride my lady on the back like the rest of you lucky SOB's I see in photos. I want the whole shabang - the leather, the tatoos, the look, the attitude - the experience...
Sorry - I got carried away there...
Anyway, any advice you can offer this newbee is appreciated... Also, if you happen to know where I can get smart about dealer's costs so I don't end up loosing my shirt there would be great...
Welcome to the JD club! (Just Divorced)
Gave up riding for my wife, the divorce is final next month and my new bagger is already in the garage.
Live the dream, enjoy the ride.
Welcome from sunny San Diego, where it is always riding season!
I enjoy my stero, cruse control and soft seats and so does the wife on those long rides. If I want to beat myself I'll ride the 76 Ironhead for an hour.
