Just a quick blurb to introduce myself. A 52 (soon to be 53) year old guy who came to motorcycles late in life. Although I always dreamt of having one since I was a kid, I didn't actually take the plunge (figuratively) until my 50th birthday when my wife saw to it that I finally fulfill my dream. Started off small, with a 1984 Honda Nighthawk. Rode that for a year before buying my dream bike -- a Harley-Davidson Sportster. I bought it used (it's a 2001), but I figured it's best to learn on something that's used than to bang up a brand-spanking new one. Perhaps in a couple of years I'll step up to something larger. But for now, I'm very happy with my Harley, although I get grief sometimes for having "a girl's bike". I won't even GET into the "Wild Hogs" movie wherein the milquetoast rode a Sportster while all the manly stud-types rode the stereotypical Harley Hogs. But I digress. I'm hoping to learn a lot on this website (which a friend who rides a Suzuki queued me into, by the way) from those of you who have been riding since you cut your first set of teeth. If I ask or say something stupid, have mercy on an old coot who don't know no better.

Oh yeah, and a retired Air Force guy to boot.
