I owned just about evry model over the years. I really like dynas but am very partial to my Road King now. Just buy what feels the best for you. For a bagger you might surprised how nimble the road king is!!!!!

Hi Jeff, A big hearty welcome to you from Southern Virginia. Glad you decided to join in on the fun here. Great Forum...Great Folks!!! I am biased towards both the Heritage Softail and RK. But like the others have said, it's what you feel most comfortable on. Ditto, what both TC and Terry said, if I were you, I wouldn't let them know up front that it's a cash purchase. They make money on financing. I'd negotiate for the best deal possible and if asked if you'll be financing through them, just tell them you haven't considered it yet, but that's a possibility. Your negotiating, so don't show all your cards. Also, like John said, although you may not think you'll be doing long rides, that may change once you get in the saddle of your new harley, so keep comfort in mind. Good Luck on your selection and be sure to post some pics once you get your new scoot, so we can all admire it

Of course I am bias, but the RK Custom may be a good fit. Its beach style bars, hard leather bags, more chrome, clean fenders, etc. may give you that "younger sporty" (lol) look that you would be feel more comfortable with. But, you would still have a Road King. Get the right seat and it can go on very long rides as well! IMO.

Again, I'm bias (i.e. signature)! Good luck and ride safe on whichever HD you buy. But, buy an HD!!!

Well I finally made a decision and bought a 04 Road King yesterday at Full Boar in Ft Worth Texas. I decided to buy one that was used so I did not have to take the initial hit, got a free two year full unlimited warranty and a 30 no questions asked 1000 mile return policy incase I decide this model just isn’t for me. If there were any one in or around the Dallas area looking for another Harley I would highly recommend Full Boar. From the free bear and lunch, to the great group of guys I could not have asked for a better buying experience.

Jeff

I'm only 29 and already onto an Electra Glide. It all depends on what type of riding you're going to do.

Thanks for the help guys. I have not even looked at the RK's yet I am do that though. I am guessing that I am bit younger then most on this fourm at 28 and the RK to me has always been one of those bikes that you grow into. No offense to anyone.

Cash deals don't impress many dealers, they make more money financing. Negotiate your best deal $$$ wise than go for the giveme's to make the deal. How about a SE Deuce?

Funny you mention that I am actually going to talk to someone this weekend that has a Deuce for sale on EBay this weekend. To bad you are in New York or I would be coming to see you as well. What can you tell me about the Deuces? This is one model I am not to familure with and I have not had to much time to do research yet.

Here is the deuce I am going to look at.

P.S. Also thanks for the warm welcome I am starting to see that I will be spending a lot of time here.
