My wife took the rider's course 2 years ago and I bought her a Rebel 250 to start out...it now only has 233 miles on it...she was doing great taking longer and longer rides but after not riding for a while she's not confident enough to get out there though she wants to...I believe she will be encouraged by your post and those who responded...thanks to all!

there are days that I discover I might have less self-confidence than others. \\; I do alot of self-encouragement and just get out there. \\; Once I am out there, I realize how silly I was for doubting myself. \\; I remind myself I completed the class and I have my license - so isn't like I don't know how to ride. \\; I talk myself through my insecurities and ride. \\; I am enjoying it more and more each time I ride. \\; Heck, yesterday I even went on a major interstate and travelled 150 miles round trip. \\; I discovered that I wasn't relaxing and as I rode more, I relaxed my back and enjoyed. \\; It was a really nice ride and an experience. \\; If your wife would like to email me, I am not an expert, but I would be happy to talk to her.

Carol,

Congratulations on passing your test and getting back on the Sporty. I knew you would make it.

No doubt you'll be looking for a fresh challenge after beating that hurdle. Didnt I hear something about you guys having an election coming up......worth thinking about
Thank you so much for telling us about your riding experience. I have been going back and forth as to what bike to begin on. I've been leaning towards a Honda Rebel as I am a complete newbie with the exception of co-riding with my husband on our Harley Heritage. You and others that have replied to your posting have convinced me to go with a Rebel. Even if I outgrow it soon, it will be well worth it to learn on. I will be taking the Riders Edge course the first of April and am trying to read everything I can get my hands on before then so I'm not totally in the dark!
Thanks again!
Joan

Even though you originally posted in May of '08, I can relate. I was lucky not to have crashed, but I also bought a big bike...got scared of it, and went out and got myself a used Honda to practice on. For me, that was the best thing I could have done.
Fortunately, it didn't take long and I'm now racking up the miles on my Road King. I wrote about it in my blog...which you can get to from my profile.
I didn't read the replies, so don't know if you've posted since, but hopefully you are riding that Sporty like a pro now.
I was in an accident back in 1995, Told myself I would never ride again. Well after awhile, That started to change, Then I told myself I would never ride again unless it was on a Harley. Well low and behold this past Xmas I came across a deal I couldn't pass up and boom here I am back in the saddle again. The accident doesn't even bother me anymore, actually it helped me. I am more alert now then I have ever been. Keep pushing girl, you will be fine.......................
