I am new to this forum and to Harleys. Havn't had a bike for over 15yrs now and I have always wanted a Harley but just never made it a priority. I have always had a bike since I was a kid up until about 16. Dirt bikes, Honda Nighthawk 750, Ninja 1100 (very uncomfortable bike). At age 16 or so I really got into cars, '85 Camaro, couple of '78 TAs. Always thought about getting another bike and always wanted a HD but it was never really in my budget. Well no more waiting (except to save some $) I hope to get one no later than this time next year.
I will definatley be taking the HD driving course and was wondering if anyone knew if I would be able to try out a few models there? My favorite as far as looks go is the Softail Heritage (have had a detailed die cast model of one for some 15yrs or so now? maybe not that long... damn dead brain cells). I sat on a Fatboy and a Roadking at a local dealer and man I really like the way the Roadking Custom fit me.
Don't want to rattle on on my 1st post so cya all around.
Where are you? There's lots of dealers that let you test their bikes if you are liscenced and insured, and their is a lot of rental agencies out there. Get a H.O.G. book from a local rider and they list the local rentors. Once you get the list down to 5 or so bikes, someone here will give their imput.
Howdy Jammer how ya doin? You have found a good place to get info on what you are interested in. When Harley makes so many models, it's hard to choose which is the right one for you. Have you thought about renting a few models to see which one rode and handled the best? Maybe that would help make your decision a little easier. Good luck on your decision and enjoy the ride.
