I have a 2000 standard and love it.

cons?Only that if you want to do long trips there are two essential add-ons. Touring seat ,I have a mustang two-up touring seat, and windshield, preferably detachable.

pros?the list never ends, but you can't beat the front end rake angle, wide front end with narrow 21" wheel and tire, and smooth lines.

the greatest part about this bike is that you can leave it the way it is or customize to your liking.

it is also very easy to convert from a bar hopper to a great touring bike within a couple of hours .

Take a test ride at your dealer's. I'm a Road King rider myself but am considering purchasing the springer deluxe which is a Softtail model. Want a retro 50's bike.....but the great thing is it's a Harley.

As I re-read this thread, I apologize, I was describing the Heritage...which I originally though you were asking about...some stuff still applies though now I would say no place to put your stuff...to me that's the biggest problem. If'n you're looking for an around town scoot that you don't plan on carrying anything on...you found your bike!

Hey Barry,
Just got a new standard EFI this past week. Me and the wife been getting a few miles on it when the temp gets into the 40s. If you have any questions just ask, the folks on this forum are the best. Bob

Welcome to the Forum

The Standard is a nice bike. Pilot said it all. Where to carry everything. After riding a dresser for over 20 yrs I would have to bolt on too much stuff to make it ridable. Saddlebags, Crashbars, Windshield etc, etc. If you are looking for a cruiser then you found the right bike. All the softail models look great tooling down the road.
