Hello, have been lurking here for quite some time, thought the time has arrived to join, so here I am. As my name implies, I am not young by any stretch, (73) but still riding though not quite as fast as I did in the past. Actually more pleasureable at slower pace! I had my first HD in 1947, a '35 HD-45. From that I soon graduated to a '27JD, fro there a'35VL, the list goes on! I think in total I have had probably 17-18 Harleys in my lifetime. In the early '90's I went to buy a new HD and discovered HD motorcycles had been discovered by the, shall I say, more monied crowd, and the prices had sky rocketed. Wow, I had bought several new HD's in the past, never paying list let alone several thousand over list, so that's where HD and I parted company and I switched to riding BMW's. BMW's are nice bikes, but just as with amything mechanical, sooner or later you will have trouble with them, but overall probably more reliable than most of the older HD's that I rode in the past. However, never really totally happy riding BMW,s, just too stubborn to give into the dealer's greed. Until May of last year, after seeing my wife through a long illness and then finding myself alone, I thought the time had come to buy "my last motorcycle" and found that some dealers were gettting the message that HD's weren't made of gold and I could finally buy at list prices. (even list grates me) So now i'm back on a HD, a '05 FLHTC, (never had a carbed bike that didn't get me home!) and enjoying the ride. Rubber side down!
