Default Seeking advice

Purchasing 2001 Fatboy tomorrow....8,600 miles / yellow / VH pipes @ some added chrome ...
Haven't been saddled up for 25 yrs...Maybe boredom in retirement, maybe second childhood, maybe nuts, maybe all of the above ! In any event I'd like to know if an extended warranty is necessary at $387 for year 1 or $316 a year for 2 years or $270 a year for 3 years ? Or maybe not at all , given the fact that the bike was purchased and serviced where I'm buying it.
Any pitfalls or advice about this particular ride I should know about going forward ? Thanks

When I bought my bike I got the extended warranty but I wouldn't do it again. A lot of things have changed in a year and I can do a lot of the stuff myself now. I guess another way to look at it though, it only takes one good repair bill, like a trans or engine and it would pay for itself. Read the fine print though.

Howdy, welcome to the forum. I understand your concern about the extended warranty thing. When I bought my first Harley last year, I hadn't been on a bike for 25 years. I just took my time riding around the back roads where I live and it started coming back to me. I added a little time to my warranty because I'm not the most mechanical person in the world. Since it was my first Harley, I figured that the warranty was a little extra insurance that I would get my moneys worth out of my bike and not get jerked around by a lot of problems that I couldn't take care of myself. The warranty gives me a little something to fall back on just incase something goes wrong with my scoot. Hope that this helps you out, good luck.

Personally, I never have liked extended warranties. The manufacturers that sell them make money on them, otherwise they wouldn't be selling them. It's a numbers game. You may end up in the minority that actually benefits from an extended warranty, but odds are you would be in the majority that would not benefit. Another thing that I don't like about extended warranties is having to fight with the dealer to obtain warranty service. Even having a warranty is no guarantee of a problem being covered. Just my 2 cents. Anyway, welcome to the forum!

Welcome from Picayune, Mississippi

Don't really think the extra warranty is worth the money. Like atrox88 said you learn a lot after you have the bike a year or so. You can save a lot of money just doing your own maintenance.
