ok guys im new to harleys. i have always owned street bikes and i was looking at getting a 1972 shovelhead the guy said it was a right side shift does this sound right to u guys?? i just dont wanna get some over japanese piece..let me know thanks--tyler
Only right side shift bikes I know of from that era are Brits (Triumphs, Nortons, BSA etc...) and pre-'74 Sportsters.
I don't think the MoCo ever made a right side shift BT. If it is a Sporty the heads will look similar to a Shovel but, now a days the proper terminolgy seems to be 'Ironhead'. Back then they were just Sportsters.
i didnt think it sound right but hey...like i said im new to harleys how do i post pics on here i have a couple
link them from photobucket. Or there's some other mumbo jumbo about attaching thumbnails but, I have no clue how to do it. There's a thread about it someplace.......
How much does this guy want for this so-called '72 Shovelhead with the right side shift? 'Cause I've seen lots of early Evos in the 5k - 7k range with a few cheaper in the mix.
If your considering a Shovel, consider your mechanical abilities. Most dealers won't touch 'em and a lot of indys don't wan to bother with them either.
Don't get me wrong, Shovels are great. I want one real bad, but can't justify another bike right now. They just take a little more love than Evos or TCs.
yeah thats the thing i race motocross quads!! and i found the bike on craigslist and hes was looking to trade for a quad so i offered up my race quad...i suppose to got test drive the bike this coming weekend i just dont wanna get screwed...i want a harley not some rigged up concocksion!!
