Welcome from Raleigh.... as noted above, ALL bikes before the 1980 suffered from SOME problems.... modern tool and die equipment, and modern electrical systems, are all pretty much bullet-proof. I wouldn't give it a second thought.
However.... giving grief to someone about their choice of motorcycles, is a time honored tradition..... ask any "old timer" they can tell you about the Indian-Harley rivalry, when fists would fly.....
You bought the finest motocycle HD makes..... but you'll still get some teasing, even on THIS forum

Howdy and welcome from The Republic! Ditto on the comments about pre-80's H-Ds. They did have problems, but once the EVO engines came on board, Harleys have been extremely reliable machines. Enjoy and welcome to the Harley family.
