bought my first HD (first bike too) two weeks ago. It's a 2007 sportster 1200c w/stage 1 kit, and vance&hines pipes. 433 miles on it at time of purchase.
It started in early may when a friend made the most compelling arguement for buying a bike. He said, "if you are thinking about buying a bike, then you should buy one."
now that I have put 200 miles on it, I'm ready for a bigger bike, but my wallet is not. It's a great bike, but it's very sluggish when both the wife and I are on it. I tip the scales at 220, she is about 90 less.
Since I'll be riding this bike for a couple years, unless my finances make a dramatic change, I'm going to add mini apes, and get chrome housings for the controls. I'll post up a picture soon.
your having sluggish problems when 2 upping on a 1200CC? I don't have any problems at all on my nightster when 2 upping. thats why I had to buy a backrest so my GF won't fall off upon acceleration.. She's a beauty and welcome to the forum
