Hey guys. I've been lurking for a while. Decided to start posting. I'm from Frisco, TX (DFW area). I ride a metric at the moment, but have plans for an HD. Haven't fully decided which one yet. One thing I'm curious about though. I know how much the bikes cost. Wish it was less, but it is what it is. I know I can spend a boat load on accessories, changing things, etc. ...or not. But one thing I'm wondering about is maintenance costs. I'll change my own oil and do some stuff myself. More as I get to know the bike. But what kind of money can I expect to spend on maintenance needs whether it be stuff that's required to keep warranty or whatever. Now to qualify that, I'm considering a new RK or Street Glide. I may also consider an `07 or newer Fat Boy. I've looked at so many and ridden a few that I'm currently not sure what I really want other than multiples which isn't going to happen. At any rate, I'd appreciate some input on associated ownership costs beyond the bike itself and add-ons.
My services run between $160 -$260 every 5k. less If U do some of the work, but each dealer charges different. so really need to talk to Ur's.

If you're not sure what kind of bike you want, test ride them. Even if you do have something in mind, like a bagger, go test ride all the baggers you can. That way you'll be able to make a better judgement call on what one you really want.
Welcome & congrats on the new bike you can save a lot of money if you do alot of the work. first pick the bike get a manual when your not riding sit down and just read it.
