I am in the Army and currently, I'm in Baghdad, Iraq. Maybe you other vets out there remember the Army's overseas military car/motorcycle sales program...I was able to get a pretty good bargain on a 2010 Street Bob, and I couldn't resist it. The bike hasn't even been built yet! I will have it in a few months, after it has been built and delivered to my local dealer. I technically haven't even seen a picture of my bike! I have not found any pictures of any 2010 models, but maybe that's normal.
I've been riding a few years and have owned metric cruisers, all of which I loved. I have owned an '82 Kawasaki KZ750, a '97 Suzuki Intruder 800, and an '05 V-Star 650. I still have the V-Star and I doubt I'll sell it when I get my Street Bob.
Obviously as a metric rider who has just bought his first Harley, I know a lot about the perceptions of Harley ownership but nothing about the experience of Harley ownership. I have all the routine rookie questions...
Are they reliable bikes these days? Are they easy to work on? Will replacing or modifying the exhaust void the warranty? Will I have to adjust the electronic fuel injection? Why is all the aftermarket stuff so expensive compared to metrics? And so on!
As for me, I have many interests, such as playing electric and acoustic guitar, running marathons, brewing and drinking homemade beer, and of course, the whole Army thing. None of those pursuits will keep me off the road on a nice day, though. I love a long haul or just a trip down to the corner store as long as it's on two wheels. I commute on my bike whenever it's practical.
Well, I can't wait to get back to the States and get that new Street Bob on the road. I look forward to absorbing the wisdom of all you seasoned Harley owners out there!

on a side note, dont get ahead of yourself...not being rude fella's but keep your head where it belongs and not where it will soon be. Come home to ride that slamming SB and hopefully ill pass you on the other side of that Double yellow line and have the oppurtunity to salute you.
Good luck, God Bless, and Welcome to the Forum
