I just got my first harley two months ago. after 35 years of metric bikes I am now the proud owner of an 05 Electra Glide Classic. I made a mistake in not buying the Ultra Classic. It had some items I figured I didn't need. One item I wanted was a cb/intercom and I thought it would be easy to add. I found out the hard way that Harley in a cost saving way has deleted the circuit boards necessary to support the cb/intercom from the classic radio. Their answer is for me to buy a new $1200.00 radio for my two month old bike and then sell the other radio on ebay. I guess I should have spent the extra 3 grand on the Ultra.
But I do love my Classic. It is the best riding and sounding bike I have ever owned. You can try all you want to make a rice burner sound like a harley but it is still a cheap imitation.
Know what you mean about wishing you had bought one up your model. I bought my EG Standard, as I was told the tour pak wouldn't come off the classic...as a result I have to add a bunch of stuff, should have gotten the Classic, and come to fine out, you can get the tour pack a quick disconnect on the classic.
Post some pics when you get the chance, glad you found us.
Glides are very nice bikes. The only thing I would miss would be the cruise control and it is easy to add.
Terry
Welcome to the forum and congrats on the new bike.
As Terry said the cruise was all I missed about the Ultra and I had it added.I realy did'nt care about the lower fairings because I live in Texas and there is no need for them here.I realy did'nt think I would use the C B either so the Classic was great for me.
Enjoy the forum and the new scooter.
P.S. I am from the Texas Hill country. Where is Hilltop lake Tx?
Welcome. Just sold my Ultra last fall. Stupid stupid mistake. I made a trip to the 100th on it from Columbus, Oh. From the holy land, we then rode down to Nashville, then over to DC, then home. On the Ultra it was a dream. I'm sure your glide will turn out to be the same once you start adding in the "missing" parts.
Enjoy!
Gregor
