hey, im eric. im from south central pa. i have an '05 xl883. i did a few things to it- 8in z bars with internal wiring, i had to get a longer brake line so i got a ss one, i took the belt guards off and had the front fender off awhile. ill take it back off once i chop the rear fender this winter. i put a ness stage 1 with a pan head style cover. i cut and grinded off the internal breather and got an air cleaner mount and breather kit to get rid of that nasty breather crap from going back in the carb. i also relocated the choke **** to on top of the carb and got a new metal choke **** cause the plastic one busted in half like it does to everyone. im waiting on paughco drags that are coming in next week. i havnt done much cause i want to ride so im saving all that for winter. this is what i want to do - progressive reg fork springs, low shocks, every chrome piece power coated black, matte black tins, taking the front fender off again, bobbing the rear. getting 3 way rear signals, eliminating tail light like a nightster, making a sidemount, coil/ignition relo, tank lift, powder black rims/pulley/fork legs, fork boots maybe, idk what to do about a seat right now (i haul my girlfriend some days so you know what i mean). anyways, im 19, im a union pipefitter/plumber local #520. im also a welder and before i got in the union i was a small engine/equiptment/heavy equiptment/truck mechanic and welder for 2 1/2 years. im 19 but i know alot. ive been rebuilding engines since i was 10 or 11 and ive worked with metal for 7 years. i can fix just about anything. ive also ridden motorcycles for 10 or 11 years. im planning to build a real bobber down the road. i cant decide on an engine; flathead, knucklehead, panhead, or shovelhead. theyre all so cool its hard to choose
Hows about some pix! Sounds sweet. Welcome from central Washington. Great people here, tons of info and alot of usable knowledge. Enjoy yourself. Geezer
