I am new to this forum and to Harleys as well as street riding for the most part. I have raced motocross for the last 38 years and have had only a couple of small metric street bikes along the way. My son was in a coma the first week of January of 08 from a motocross crash that he recovered from and stared to ride again. February of 09 he had another good crash and got a concussion and decided to give it up so I did too.
In March I bought a couple of Sportsters an 02 883C and an 08 1200C. I had originally planned on doing the 883 up for solo riding and adding a 1250 kit to it and then setting 1200 for riding two up with the wife. After about a month of riding behind me I talked the wife into getting her license and put her on a Honda Rebel for a thousand miles and then onto the 883. She now has almost 4500 miles on since June 29th of this year. I traded my 1200 in on an 09 Super Glide after putting a little over 5000 miles on it and so far have a little over 10000 miles in for this year. The wife loves riding with me and it has brought us even closer than we have been for the first 25 years that we have been married.
I have been lurking here for quite a while and decided it was time to start posting and joining in on the fun.
