Default New Old Guy

Just joined the forum after several visits. I have been riding motorcycles for over 40 years and have been riding H-D's for the past 31 years. The wife also rides her own H-D (2005 Road Glide). She had a motorcycle when we got married 31 years ago, that's why I married her!

The wife and I were MSF instructors for 10 years and I was Rider's Edge Instructor for a couple of years but we got tired of giving up our weekends, so we "retired" from the instructor gig about 7 years ago.

I have ridden to every state in the union and most of Canada. Well you got me,I had to do a "Fly'n Ride" to get Hawaii marked off the old bucket list. I have ridden in 6, 3 Flags Classic Rides and finished 5 of them, I got hit the rear end last time out by my riding buddy.

I retired at an early age so I can ride motorcycles more often. I currently have a little over 600,000 miles under my belt and still get in 15 to 20K a year on average.

I am a motorcycle enthusiast first and a H-D/Buell rider second. I have ridden Honda’s, Kawasaki’s, and BMW’s. I have always managed to have at least one H-D/Buell in the shed at the same time.

I currently own a 2008 FLHTCU 105th Anniversary model. I only have about 14K miles on this machine. I also own a 2007 Buell Ulysses with a little over 24K on it. The wife has a little over 24K on her 2005 Road Glide, she has slowed down a bit; she has to work to support my motorcycle habit.

I prefer the back roads to the interstates and with the Ulysses I am getting a fair share of back roads, gravel, dirt and just good old black top. I like the performance type machine a little more than the cruiser type machine, but I just have not been able to accept the V-Rod ,yet. I think it has to do with the styling of the machine, remember I am an “old” rider.

I do my own maintenance on the machines I own and some for my riding buddies.

I hope to one day take off for and just ride, no destination, no time table. I do not camp any more, got to get up too many times in the night, that old guy thing again. My idea of camping these days is staying at a Motel 6.

If you are looking for someone to ride with somewhere let me know I just might be able to take off for a week or two, or three or four!

Welcome from Indy! I can't say enough good about the ABATE classes. It has been responsible for a good start in my short ridding time. I still have an extremely high respect of the weight and power.
