Default 1936 VL Flathead

Hello to all my fellow enthusiasts. I just acquired a 1936 VL Flathead that was in a chicken coop that caught on fire and burnt to the ground. Currently I am in the process of restoring her to her former glory. She is in pretty bad shape (rusted and burnt parts). But on the good side, I have tore the motor and tranny apart and to my amazement, the insides are spotless. Looked like a new motor and tranny, except for the carbon buildup on top of the heads and the pistons because the rings weren't staggered correctly. The tank, inner and outter primarys are shot from rusting out. The only things that weren't on the motorcycle when I got her were the fenders, exhaust, and the right side cover for the oil pump. Other than that she is complete. A guy I know had her sitting on his porch for decoration. I saw her and brought her home. Next week I am taking some parts to have them hotdipped. I know it is going to take a while to get her back to the way she was, but boy is it going to be worth it....Have a great day and "Ride it like you stole it"..........

My brother had a 35 VLD back in the 60s. They are a great bike! Good luck!

Default 1936 Flathead Rebuild

I posted some pictures. As you can tell by the pics she is pretty rough. But she is going to be one Beautiful Smokin Hot Machine when I am done.... Thanks to everyone who welcomed me to the club. The one pic is what she is going to look like when she is done. As far as I have found out, that is the color it came out in, in 1936. I am going to make it look exactly like that one. God willing and the money don't run out....lol....Ride Hard, Ride Free.....
