I have read a lot of folks getting accused of having midlife crisises (crises?) and have to say that I probably qualify. I'm 40 years old and I bought my first Harley in December of 2004, an Ultra Classic. Except, not only is this my first Harley, it's my first bike...period. So, I went from never having thrown my leg over a bike to to top of the food chain in one fell swoop. I think I tool leave of my senses somewhere or other. But I have to say, oh what a feeling!
I took the MSF class when it was offered, and have been taking my time getting to know biking in general and my bike specifically. I also hooked up with some good folks who have very patiently shown me the ropes, so I'm starting to feel more comfortable on my beast. I've got about 700 miles in the saddle so far. I found this site yesterday, and glad to join right up. I probably won't be a good source for information for some time, but I'm looking forward to learning more from the masters!
Here's an attempt at a picture of my my baby at the dealership:
Bill, Welcome from central IL. BTW, you're too young to have a mid-life crisis! You realy did go "top of the line" Looks great. Don't worry, we all have something to share. If nothing else, when you're bored and want to add to the number of your posts, go to the True/False thread.
Hope you make yourself at home and enjoy. There's a lot of good people here. You're one of us now (just because of your passion for Harley's).

Welcome to the forums, from Arizona. That is one good looking ride; nothing like taking it from the top. Congrants on the rider school, you are starting out right. Ace is correct you are too young for a mid-life crisis you need at least 5 more years. Gadfry, an Ultra for a FIRST bike!
Glad you found us. I took the liberty of editing your post so that your picture would show up automatically. You did everything right, except when you want to get the URL of the picture by right clicking on the picture itself instead of using the address in the address bar. (if that makes any sense).
I love that new color the cherry pearl they offered this year.
Great looking bike, and congrats, you did it right the first time!
