Hello all from St. Augustine, FL....HD newbie
Anyway, I'm an Iron Butt member, I ride to the mountains a few times each year (sometimes solo, sometimes 2-up), and as such have had my eye on an Ultra for quite some time. There just comes a point when, as a metric rider, you realize that it's time to stop throwing money into your scoot to make a long hauler and just go get the Ultra that's ready to go right out of the gate! I like all kinds of bikes and am really not loyal to any one brand, but I do have my preferences for various reasons. I enjoy the comraderie of being with like-minded "riders" and like to take 2-3 hr rides just to eat lunch somewhere.
I also thoroughly enjoy researching the heck out of things, especially when it comes to modifying the bike, and learning to do as much as possible on my own bike maintenance, etc. There is, in my opinion, no better riding than in NC, TN, and N. GA, but that's coming from a FL resident who sees flat roads and dodges blue haired retirees 3/4 of every year ;-).
Okay, probably more than you ever cared to read about a newbie, but I'm looking forward to participating around here and learning from the more experienced as I go......and of course I can't WAIT to pick up the new ride this month!!
