Welcome from wisconsin, I bought a 2010 fatboy lo in october, mine has 10" mini apes and mustache engine guards, don't have a windshield, I think it would look odd on it, my opinion, I have pictures on my profile of it with the apes, etc, check it out, mine is black denim, which color did you choose?
Welcome to the forum from Georgia! I don't have any answers to your questions, but you may want to try posting those questions under the Softails forum. You'll probably get more Fatboy owners opinions there.
I can comment on the windshield question: I leave mine off until the temp breaks 55 degrees. Welcome to the Forum from cold and snow covered Indy waiting on Spring.
