I have been browsing the forums here for a while, but this is my first post. I just wanted to say hey, so "Hey".
I am glad to finally be a member here. I have learned a great deal and have gotten many good ideas by browsing the pages of this forum. I hope to put some of the things I have learned to good use, in time (money is tight right now)...
I own a '10 Iron 883 and I love it. It is my first road bike ever. A little about me - I am 36 years old and have been riding dirt bikes for as long as I can remember. It all started when I was about 7 or 8 and my Dad brought home my first mini-bike. Who knew at the time that he had created a monster? Anyway, I have wanted to get a bike for a while...I finally decided it was time and pulled the trigger. I dug the blacked out look of the Iron and had to have it. After riding it for a bit I can't believe I have gone this long without a bike. It is very therapeutic and liberating. It really helps clear the mind and ease the soul - I love it!
I am a ride mechanic at a local theme park in Myrtle Beach (I am the small engine/go cart guy). I live just south of Myrtle Beach, in Surfside Beach, but it is all part of the "Grand Stand". I know Myrtle has gotten a bad rap since they decided to try and do away with the bike Rallies, and I can relate (since I live here). There are still many business owners who love the Rallies and the money they bring in for the economy. The problem is, the locals, or people who live in the area, are the ones who get to vote. A lot of the business owners don't live within the city limits, so they do not get to vote and they get the shaft because of it. I am sure if they did get a vote there would be no helmet law and no noise ordinance. That is the main beef that we have here.
Anywho, glad to be here and I hope to learn even more, as well as contribute to the forums. I am a Harley noob, so please be gentle. We all had to start somewhere...
You just had to mention that, racerdj...I have been a Jets fan since I knew what a football was. At least they made it to the AFC Championship game - where nobody expected them to be. Hopefully they will get better...And since Indy beat the Jets I am pulling for them in the big game. Go AFC! And thanks for the welcome guys
