I have been viewing the forum for the past month and recently decided to join. I do not own a Harley yet, but once I am out of Iraq I will. I am currently working on purchasing a Harley while over here through the military vehicle sales. The only problem is I am not sure what bike to get! I have been going back and forth for the past month.
There are some really nice looking bikes this year so that doesn't help at all. The good news is that in about a month and a half I will be heading home for my R&R and at that time I will get to see all the bikes at the local dealer before making my final decision.
So, for now, I am grateful to have found this forum. Already I have gained a lot of knowledge and look forward to the day I ride off the lot! But in case you all are wondering, I have narrowed my bikes down to only 10. lol. Just kidding. But each time I cross a bike out, I seem to add another to the list of candidates!
1. Street Bob - Black Denim
2. Fat Bob - Black Denim
3. Wide Glide - Vivid Black Flame
4. Iron 883 - Black Denim
5. XL1200X "48" - Silver Pearl
I am 5'7" and a 180lbs. My inseam is 30" so I really want to sit on these bikes first. I could have already put the cash down over here to seal the deal but want to ensure I fit the bike. Any suggestions feel free to let me know! I will be sticking around here for awhile!
First off... thanks for your service. Second...so many choices, so little time. Good luck. Glad to have you join in the fun. Great place to hang around.... you may learn a little, may learn a lot, may not learn anything. But you will have a few good laughs and make some new friends. Welcome. Geez
My wife visited the dealer in Vancouver, WA a couple weeks ago and said the same thing about the Wide Glide. It was her favorite up until the Forty Eight was announced! Not sure if I would be a fan of a 2.1 gallon tank though.

Hello and welcome to HDF from NorCal. I think you are doing the right thing by waiting until you can actually sit on and ride them before you buy... You may also want to spend some time deciding what you plan to do with the bike... Long distance, bar hop, riding two up, etc... They are all very different in many ways and some suited for more specific things... After that it will come down to personal choice.. Good luck... You will have fun making your decision... and thank you for your service.
