Hey everybody! I'm new to the site and new to motorcycles. I just purchased a 2000 Sportster 883. I have been taking out the bike as much as I can but I still have a lot to learn. I was a little bit worried when I was first introduce to the clunk/grind from neutral but from what I've read, it's normal on a cold start and high idle from the choke. Anyways, I look forward to learning a lot from this site and this bike!

Are U letting her warm up a little before taking off..
They told me to touch the rocker boxes on top of the jugs and when they start to warm up then go.. usually 2-3 minutes.. It'll help a little on the clunk.. Also let her get up to temp before opening her up, again its usually 10minutes or more of riding.
