Default Newb wants a dyna

Im a newbie from texas, stationed in north carolina, currently deployed. Never ridden before but am planning to take the riding course when i get back and get myself a harley. I get out about 9 months after i get back to the states so im thinking of buying an older bike once i get back then get rid of it once i move home and buy a new one/keeper, this way i wont mess up my baby. Obviously i wanna test ride before i buy anything but from what ive read and the pics i've seen the dynas, specifically the super glide or sg sport, seem like they'd be right up my ally. I plan on blacking it out if its not already, so any advice on a good year for these bikes or other bikes that look good blacked out would be much appreciated.

Thank you for serving our country. Let me be the first to welcome you to the Forum from Indy! The riders course will give you a great safety foundation but be sure to test many bikes. You will know which one is the one.

Definitely a good start on a Dyna. I love mine, you may not want to get a newer one after you buy it. If you're nervous about dropping it while you're learning get some crash bars and call it good till you get the hang of it. Then once you're comfortable take them off unless you like them.

Thanks for your service. Can't go wrong with a Super Glide, I love mine. I think it's the best value in the HD lineup. Big twin power, smoother ride, but doesn't cost much more than a Sporty.
