Gotta say I bought an '06 Sportster XL1200L, put a nice Sundowner Seat, Detachable Low Windshield, Backrest to attach my storage bag to, Rack for my lunch box some extra chrome and had a nice comfortable ride for distance AND commuting to work. I loved most everything about it. Then I decided to take a trip up one of our Michigan freeways. Sportsters, in my humble opinion, are just not made for the long haul ... or maybe my 48 year old, fat self was not made for a Sporty. The last straw was as I was battling wind, potholes, traffic, vibration, etc. was a nice gentleman passing me on his Ultra, listening to the radio SMOKING A CIGARETTE!! He nodded as he flew by me.
I traded my Sportster for an Ultra, didn't take too much of a trade-in beating, and will never go back. Oh yeah, it gets me to work just fine.
