Thanks for the replies and welcomes , im new to harley,s and live in England , we do not have the amount of after market accessories you guys in USA have , but it seems theres a lot of problems regarding suspention and seats , but we would pay £230 for a mustang solo tripper seat about $350 . same for progressive rear shocks , not a cheap upgrade , so ill have to starve the wife n kids to pay for em , anyone know why harley put such poor springs and seats on there bikes ?

p.s i tried the 48 after id ridden 30 miles on my nightster , its a real piece of work , you couldnt have made it worse if you employed a whole team of **** killers, seems harley havnt heard of gel or memory foam , and the leather sprung solo retro saddle is even worse , not funny when you think of the price you pay for a new bike or upgrades from the dealers

Kinda hard to make one seat to fit all A$$es.. thats why the aftermarkets is busy.
Some love the stock seat, some hate them. All new seats has to break in a little.
The little solo seat on a sporty is never gonna ride like a big Classic seat.

U can also customize Urs, several shops will make changes so it will fix Ur A$$.
they cut here, add there.. or try a different one.

Welcome to the Forum and safe riding.

Welcome from Northern Michigan
I've had my 07 nightster for 6 weeks and have already put 3000 miles on it. One trip was 300+ miles long. So far that trip has left my butt feeling the worst, but nothing walking around for a few minutes didn't relieve. I would like to try another seat as well, but I'm a bit wary about spending that kind of money and possibly ending up with something no better. The one thing I like about the stock nightster seat is that there is room to slide back on it to get a little different seating position and wake your *** up again. But then I'm 6'2" and can still reach my forward controls doing that.

just an update , i bought an 883 iron solo seat off ebay uk for £50 , its a better shape , a bit longer and goes upto the tank , so more room , about 2 - 3 inches, i dont get the the rear slop pressing against the base of my spine , so i can ride longer , it has more padding aswell , its not perfect , i could still do with a couple more inches to move around , but i think its me being a lard *** aswell , for the money i think its a great improvement , i realy dont know why they didnt use this seat in the first place , it looks very simular apart from hidding the tank bracket , it gives a cleaner line between the tank and the rear mudguard(fender)but retains the original look of the bike , its a little higher aswell ,maybe an inch , ive noticed vibration and bad springs are also a facter , so thats the next job , progressive 412,s rear and a new set of fronts aswell , but try ebay for a cheap fix first ASLOW any 04- on 883 solo seat will fit, if it works than great if not resell it , no lose , theres always good ones comming up for little money , mine looks new, just make sure its not off the 883 low or a solo reach , im off to france for a couple of weeks , ill try n post a few pics when i get back ,
