Finally pulled the trigger
So, after quite an extensive wait I finally pulled the trigger on my first Harley, better late than never.
I've officially registered to the forum last year, I was looking to purchase a sporty, but it so happened that a neighbor of mine was selling his bike and I decided to take it off his hands. I hope overall it was a good buy.
Now, without further ado - I had to google that idiom

On to the details...
I'm 22, turning 23 on the 27th of this month, not a big guy, 5,11, 155.. more of a kid for that matter -physically, not mentally.. The logic behind this buy was based on two things. One, I had an opportunity to use a '04 1200R for a week, I enjoyed it, but it was more of a bicycle with a motor, no offense to anyone that owns one. It was rough on long commutes, I constantly found myself arching and I couldn't stretch out because of the mid controls. On the plus side the weight was ideal. I'm not a big guy as I mentioned so this sporty being the first Harley i've ever ridden was a good introduction to a heavier bike. Towards the end of the week after riding it everyday for a minimum of 2 hours a day I concluded that maybe I'd find more pleasurable to grow into something than outgrow it. A good analogy would be buying a new pair of shoes for a small child with a little room. The second reason why I couldn't pass this up was that the person I bought it from is a trustworthy individual who literally lives down the street, thus is less likely to B.S. to make the sale. Originally he wasn't even looking to sell it, which is another plus, it just so happened that I asked and he agreed. The bike has just over 3000 miles, he acquired it new with only 2 recorded miles. I bought it for 9000 flat, I think it was a fair deal. I really do hope to give the bike a good home and in turn for it to treat me well. I'm not going to lie a feel a slight bit nervous riding it, but its a good nervous, a cautious, careful nervousness that I hope makes me into a more experienced rider. I plan on keeping it for as long as time permits and maybe even pass it down to my kids when the time comes. Overall I'm glad to finally be part of this community and hopefully this bike will bring me some life long relationships with other riders.
Out of curiosity I was wondering what you guys think of the quote I received from progressive, I don't have the cleanest driving record and my motorcycle riding experience is minimal, I got quoted 865.xx with a $500 comprehensive and collision deductible. I bought it just because I didn't feel to shop around. I can always look for a better rate next year.
Thanks for hearing me out,
Denis

Congrats on your Harley, that is a sweet ride and I love that color of blue. Sounds like you know what you are doing and are making the right decisions. One note of caution, it is not a good idea to post how much you paid for something on this forum, especially a bike. There are guys on here that seem to get a kick out of disparaging other members purchases saying you paid too much, etc. and bragging about how they got the same thing for half what you paid. There are guys like that eveywhere, sure you know what I mean. Just my .02
