Hello, I have been looking through this forum and have decided to join. I am a new harley owner and took the MSF course in july. I bought a 2007 883 low pewter pearl. it is the perfect bike for my 5'3" self. I learned on a 82' KZ 440 and the Harley drives like a cloud. Even the stock bag of rocks that I sit on aren't that bad. Any way I have grown up in a family of bikers and decided I wasn't riding B#%$* anymore. I do have a question though, I want to customize my bike and am not sure what direction to take. I also am cheap but want a unique bike. I am sure this is a dumb question. I wouldn't mind louder pipes or other things. And also could I install any of this stuff my slef to save money I am pretty mechanically inclined. Thanks for any feedback.
Welcome to the forum, Marcie,...you'll like it here.
That's a great bike to start your long life riding Harleys. As far as customizing, you'll have to decide which way to go. I'd look at some mag's to get ideas. Yes, there's lots you can do yourself. There's an infinite amount of bolt-on goodies to make your scoot your own.No two Harleys are the same except right after you buy 'em, then everything changes after that...Have fun with it!
Girlierider, welcome to the HDF, I`m sure you can take on the exhaust mod . And if you have questions just go to the Sporty Forum and you will find the help you need. So ride safe and enjoy that HD of yours !
I just traded in my '06 Sportster XL1200L for a larger bike, primarily because Michigan highway travel with a Sportster tends to be quite an adventure!
I would suggest getting your hands on a copy of the 2007 H-D catalog as you can go any direction you want with customizing. Then there is the aftermarket stuff but I've heard there is not a lot for the '07 ... yet. I personally had fun on the H-D website and their interactive customizer so I could see what various things looked like on the bike before I bought them. I am quite a chrome freak so it was fun. I think the 2007 Customizer is ready or near ready for use.
