Dumb Softail question...

Dumb Softail question...
Hey all,
I went to go look at a used Softail Custom with really low mileage today, and when the guy started it up I noticed the headlight was bouncing around, and then even saw the front wheel shaking back and forth a little bit... the front end was shaking a lot more than I thought it would.
is that right? I mean.. I know it's a big motor, but Softails are supposed to be balanced. I thought it was the Dynas that shake at idle. And if a Softail's like that, I can't imagine what a Dyna is like
I'm just checking to make sure this isn't some problem with the bike...

I guess it depends on how much it was shaking. Did you ride it? If you rode it, you would be able to tell if it was normal or not (feel looseness in the wheel, etc.) My 03 Heritage doesn't shake very much.

Touring series rubber mounted bikes shake a lot when they are ideling and get real smooth the faster you go.
Softtails and Dynas are counterbalanced. The are supposed to be smooth at idle, the the vibrations pick up a bit at high speed.

I put my toolbag on top of the light and that cuts out most of the bouncing.
My wheel does not bounce or shake in any way.
