Hey all. I just purchased a 1999 Springer Softail and have gotten my introduction to manually using a carburetor. Total new guy question, but what is the trick? I am spitting and stalling and just can't seem to get it right.
Now that you're all done laughing, are there any tips and tricks to using the carb?
Hoping to tap into some of that resident knowledge!

Congrats and welcome!! May need to rejet the carb if it wasn't done properly or a simple cleaning. I don't know much about carbs being I'm an FI guy. Just a little bit here and there I caught from growing up around it with my dads bike. I'm sure someone will chime in!!

welcome from north carolina, some of my older harleys were very cold natured and took a while to warm up. If you are still having problems after warm up, you may need a carb clean or it may need rejetting if previous owner made some changes to bike.
