Hello world
First time HD owner, long time dreamer. My first bike was a 1984 Honda FT-500 (remember those? single cylinder "thumpers). Loved that bike, had it for several years, until a wife and baby forced me to start thinking with my checkbook. Dropped the bike off to a friend for some quick cash, and thought my motorcycle dreams were dead and gone.
Then, on a whim, I stopped into the local HD stealership here for a good ol' drooling sesssion, when I saw THE BIKE.
It wasn't the nicest on the lot, or the most expensive... in fact, it was the cheapest - but it stood out to me. Sitting there, at the end of the line outside the door, was a 2005 Harley Davidson Sporty XL 1200 C with some Stage 1 work done up. Air filter, SEII pipes, carb jetting, and dyno'd. She sounded real, REAL nice to me.
Couple days later, and some negotiation with the wife (and a new sewing machine...), I have this in my front driveway:
I was a happy camper. Here's another shot after her first bath:
Looks much better without the windshield and sissybar.
Anyway, so I plan on doing all the maintenance on her myself. The bike is already paid off, and not under warranty. In the end, I paid $5k for a five year old bike with 4753 miles. Not bad, that's about $1k under blue book. And right in my price range
So you'll see me here posting questions, trying to glean as much information off the old salts and experts. Thanks for your hospitality!
