To comply with the admin request to announce myself - I hate to call myself a newbie, hell, I'm 63 in a few days. I had a Triumph Tiger 650 back in 72-74, and was always jealous of my friends with Harleys. It was my only transportation for a long time. I sold it when my wife got pregnant, we thought it was too risky to ride any more, and I bought a color TV and a wore out old El Camino.
Now, many years (and a couple of wives) later, my step-son wanted to get rid of his 2006 Fat Boy, for similar reasons. I was looking at bikes and daydreaming over them, and it was an offer I couldn't refuse.
I am not a polish and shine person, I don't want it funky, but I ride it every day. It's not garage jewelry, is what I mean. I want as near to perfect operating condition as possible, though. I'm freaky about changing fluids, and keeping the inside of my vehicle's guts clean and everything working perfectly.
So, I thought this might be a good place to visit when I need advice that doesn't come from HD dealerships - who have a vested interest in what they tell me, or dudes I might meet in one of the local bars - who may or may not know what they are talking about while I'm in a gullible state of mind.
