Hi all.......
I tried starting my 08 Road King with the clutch lever pulled in and the bike lurched forward. This happened several times until I put the bike in nuetral, started it, and let it warm up.
Any ideas what causes this?

How cold are you talking about? Could be too cold for the viscosity of the oil in the primary.
What's happening is until it warms and the oil thins out, the thick sticky oil is not allowing for the clutch plates to slip when the clutch lever is depressed. Obviously putting it neutral releases the clutch from needing to be disengaged to keep the bike from the pulling you get doing it the other way.
Theres nothing wrong, it normal with wet clutches, U have to get the oil moving through the plates first so they won't do it. After sitting a while,, there will grab on cold start up.
Might try same after riding for an hr or more when everything hot and see if that makes any diff... it should..
Let me know if it does...
