Hello yet again!
Hey gang, heres a quote from way back when,
"I have been a member of these boards for quite some time, but I drifted away as my wife and I weren't ready to buy a bike quite yet. Now, as long as I don't end up on strike this spring, it looks like it will finally happen! This is where everyone comes in.....
I'm a short guy, I mean really *^$#!ing short! About 5'1" barefoot, maybe 5'3" in a work boot. About 175ish. My wife is 5'5" around 140-150ish. I need suggestions on what all you vertically challenged people are riding. I'd like to stay in the dyna series, I went to demo days last season, and felt very comfortable on the Street Bob, but I wonder how it will do for two-up riding. We don't plan much more than day trips at the longest, as we have a 4 year old and don't get away much. Mel plans on taking the riders course, but shes still not sure she's going to take to riding on her own."
Well, guess what? I ended up on strike, and not just a little one, we were out for 12 months. In the end, we ended up packing our little family, pulling the pin and moving all the way across Canada, and way the hell up in Yellowknife, NWT. Best thing we could have ever done, we're all loving it, and loving our new jobs. Mind you, it's -41 today, and I haven't seen anything warmer than 0 deg F in about three months, but we can live with it.
It looks like we finally recovered financially from the strike enough that my wife wants to finally buy me my first harley. (What a woman!) So we're back to the drawing board. Things have changed as far as models, and I have a whole new mess of options here. Right now I'm leaning towards a Fat Boy Lo. Like I said in my previous posts, I'm really short, about 5'1" and my inseam is only 25-26", maybe 27" if I get some boots with a bit of height. It looks like the lo will be the easiest for me to get comfortable in. I also noticed the new blackline has a 24" seat height as well, but I'm not sure I'm sold on the looks, and I remember waiting for the rocker for months only to find out that is was low, but so damn wide my feet weren't touching anyways.
Anyways, just another post reintroducing myself yet again, and hoping I'll be able to show you pics of whatever my new ride is by spring!

Last year when the company flew us up to check the place out before taking the job, we came at the end of march. It was the warmest winter YK had in decades, and we saw three guys out on their harleys. Now keep in mind, people were still driving around on the ice roads, but the streets in town were clear so they were taking advantage. Season is very short up here, so you get out as soon as you can
Hey welcome to the forum from York Pa. That is a beautiful area to live. The riding in the summer is going to be awesome.
That FB low is one nice looking bike. I really like the denim black. Do you have a dealer that is working with you to try different bikes and seats?
Sounds like you have a great wife, hope you get your bike.

It's hard up here cause the market is pretty small, so they don't get a huge lineup of bikes. However, there in one Lo in town, so I'm going to go check it out in person. I'm still figuring on a reach seat or a la pera up-front, and either slammers or wild1 chubby's for some pullback.
