Default Evo engine heat

From riders experience, what would be the max engine temp that could be reached before damage occurs? I run a good synthetic. Oil pressure drops substantialy when she runs hot and what does that do to the lubricating qualities of the oil?? I run a 98FXDS-conv...Love those Dynas.....

Welcome aboard from New York. You'll get a better response in one of the technical areas.

hey Don..It's Darwin from Beiseker. The evos are all about oil volume....not necissarily pressure, I have seen MANY idle, once warm, with little, or no oil pressure on the gauge.
The most important things.....1) Never use a twin cam oil filter in your evo, even if the pimply faced parts kid assures you it's the right one. The twim cam filters do not let enough oil flow in an evo system.
2) Always ensure your "oil light" is working before every start up.....if you don't see the oil light on during normal operation....your good to go
As far as temp, my T/C runs around 200*, I wouldn't worry about it until 240/250
hope this helps ya Don, feel free to call with any questions, and thanks for the pics......you got me missin' the old girl

Welcome to the Forum .... Remember these scooters use roller bearings in them so there won't be much "pressure" at idle .... you should see 25 to 35 psi goin' down the road.
