New guy here
I bought my 1st street bike in 2003. It is a 2003 gun metal blue Harley Sportster 1200XL. I LOVE this bike and everything about it thus far. Unfortunately about 4 months after I bought it I herniated a disc in my back and put me out for that season and beyond. I only have 2500 miles on my bike thus far with the back surgery and other factors keeping me off the road. I have yet to take my 1st real road trip (500+ miles) on it but that will be changing within a month or so.
I have the very fortunate situation to live in the Black Hills of South Dakota. I think a major reason I bought the bike is because I live only about 30 miles from Sturgis and we have gone to the rally for the past 6 years we have been in this area (the last 2 on the bike). Any of you coming to the hills for the Sturgis rally hit me up and camp in my yard or maybe downstairs unless I have family here as I will this year or even just for some advice about this area.
I have always been a huge motorcycle fan getting an early start on them and 4 wheelers growing up in a rural area and working on a farm a good part of my life in Wyoming.
Ironic kind of that my Sporty is worth more then all 3 of our other vehicles combined, hands down, but a guys got to have priorities. Lucky for me my wife is also a big motorcycle fan and even got her license last year. I feel my sporty may end up being her ride before too long.
My bike 2003XLC 1200:
Some came with bike (package deal)
2003
-Windshield
-Sissy bar
-Luggage Rack
-Medallions ...
-Billet pegs
-Extra chrome etc etc
2005
-Billet mirrors (just installed as my stock left one started spinning b/c the gasket inside was history)
-Screaming Eagle baloney cut exhaust - just bought a few weeks ago and wonder why I waited so long ... oh yea $$
There are so many more things I like but only time and funds will tell if I get any of them as the wife and I are planning to have our 1st kid in a year or less. Love my sporty and the fact that I can be at Devils Tower, Mount Rushmore, The Sturgis Rally, and the Black Hills. Things that people ride/drive 1000's of miles to see all within an hour’s ride of my back door. I don't have server space to post any pics yet but soon I will.
Hello all and looking forward to chatting with all of you,
Herb
