New to Harleys
I have now bought my Harley. I haven't got it home yet; I still have a broken ankle from my recent spill on my Triumph, so there's no great rush. I haven't got any nice pix of it yet, but here's the one from the web advert. I wouldn't have bought it from this image, but it looks much nicer in the flesh.

I'm in two minds about the fairing, but it might be good to have it on for longer rides.
I paid way too much for it, but Dyna T Sports model seems to be as rare as rocking horse dung in the UK, and I decided this was what I wanted. I don't like the clock in the tank for one thing and there were few models with speedo and tacho clocks mounted where they should be
I also didn't want raked out forks, which most Dynas in the UK seem to have; the low riders and wide glides seem to be the most popular .... or at least the most popular to sell

The Snap-On man seems pleased; all my tools are metric
I guess I will have to get a workshop manual. The dealership seem to me to be extracting the urine to buy one from them, so I'll have to search the 'net

When I get her home I'll take some nicer pix so you can see what she really looks like

Yesterday I was ready to go and collect my new Harley... the sales lizard then admitted that the bike didn't have 33000 miles but 44000 miles on it's clock!!! I was somewhat unimpressed and even more so when they arrogantly informed me that they still needed to see the same money for the bike!!. You can probably guess where I told them to garage the bike

Today my good lady and myself travelled 150 miles oop north to look at another bike. This was a close to immaculate and had only 3500 miles from new and history/MOTs to back it up. She's a Dyna Custom FXDCI. Despite my leg being in plaster I still rode her around the block. She has Screaming Eagle pipes and they are very loud, but they also supplied the original pipes.
I think we're going to be friends
At 46 years old I have just broken my ankle again after crashing my gorgeous Triumph Sprint 1050. I am clearly not grown up enough to ride a fast bike and so have decided that my modern bike should be something which doesn't tempt me to insane speeds. My true love is my 1977 Kawasaki Z1000 A1 (or to you Americans that'll be KZ1000)

I have never (touch wood - forehead) crashed my Big Zed, but it's seventies suspension (Marazoochi upgraded shox) and Two Four seat is painful for rides more than a mere hundred miles.
So I have more or less decided to get a Dyna Twin Cam. I don't want raked out forks, as I have ridden a mate's Softtail with it's 21" front wheel and no ground clearance and it simply doesn't stop nor go round corners in any way I find acceptable, however I have ridden another mate's Dyna super glide and that's comfortable and pleasant to ride.
I have found a 2007 FXDC in a Harley shop and the guy will give what I want for my now immaculate (again) Triumph. I'm not keen on the colour (yellow) but I am happy to try and get a paint set and spray it myself with a sexy candy red, with some basic airbrushing. On the left side of front engine case the paint is starting to come away. There is a 2008 model next to it which has the same fault but far more advanced. I understand that they are powder coated. How much of a naus is it to remove this casing (the one behind the chromed outside cover)?
The guy with the Softtail found the chrome on his wheel rims was of terrible quality and rusted very badly. Is this a common fault? Would I do better to look for a model with alloy wheels?
Any advice to help me buy a good Harley would be much appreciated. I am well skilled at m/c fettling, but have no knowledge about Harleys as such.
Thanx
