Default What's up everyone...

I'm currently in Raleigh, NC but am originally from Cardiff, CA (socal).

I've been trolling the boards for the past month or so as I'm looking to make a transition; I've been riding street for over 25yrs with most of it being on a sportbike, however, I'm looking at buying a cruiser in the near future so, I'm hoping to get some valuable input from the board.

Have a great f*n day, y'all!

cYa,
woodchip

Welcome to the forum! You're going to hear numerous arguments from numerous members about why their particular model is the best. I've had a Sportster, a Wide Glide and a Road King. By far, the Road King is the most comfortable for long rides, the sporty was best for tear-assing around town, and the Wide Glide was best for rides under 100 miles and for looking effing sweet.

Just all depends on how you want to ride!

Thanks.

I'm probably looking at rippin' around town mostly, commuting (30 miles one way) to work a few days a week, and taking the occasional trip to the beach/mountains (100-150 miles one way).

Also, I'm 6ft and about 210lbs.

As I'm used to a sportbike, the sportster appeals to me from a weight perspective but when I sat on an 883 and 48, they both seemed (maybe) a bit small feeling. I did like the looks of them though.

I've heard of bigger guys saying their Sportster was fine for them, but I'm 6'0" and 205 lbs and my sporty was a bit small for me. The wide glide isn't what it once was (in my opinion) and I don't like it much anymore, but mine was a 2006...best year they every had, IMO.

You looking to buy new or used? Can't go wrong with a Road King...pretty nimble for a big bike!

Ok, so we're about the same build and you felt it a bit small, as well.

Getting a new bike would be sweet (for obvious reasons), and I'll do that if it looks like circumstances are leading me down that path but I think, considering the economy etc., there are some good deals to be had where respectable people are offering quality machines.

I've rode a sporster 1200, 1500 kaw. vulcan classic, still own a 02 Indian Spirit with s&s and just bought a 08 Road King. The Indian for Kicking **** but the Road King by far for comfort. zag
