Greetings and whatnot from the panhandle. Name's Paul Clayton, call me Paulo. I got really interested in Harley over the past few months after a couple years of watching American Chopper and recalling memories of rides to elementary school on the back of my dad's Gold Wing. Here's how it happened:
I got married four months ago today =D and my lovely wife's dad is a regular renter of Harleys (not quite ready to drop the bills on his Road King yet). My wife says to me one day, "You know, I wouldn't be COMPLETELY opposed to you riding motorcycles if you would ride with my dad and make sure he's safe." Cue a big, goofy, excited grin coming across my face, especially considering her previous stance on motorcycles was due to her only experience ever being a scary one. Took a little spill while riding on the back of one of her dad's rentals and banged up her ankle enought to make her hate hogs with a purple passion. Now she says I can ride? Freakin' SWEET.
So I stopped in to my local Harley shop (Capital City Harley-Davidson in Tallahassee, FL), chatted it up with a couple employees and sales gurus, and basically it was all over. I knew I had to ride. At the end of October I took the Rider's Edge course at Orlando Harley-Davidson in Orlando, FL, and passed both the written and riding tests with flying colors. So now, it's a matter of bringing down my credit card balance before my wife will let me bring home a brand-new hog on financing. Anyhoo, she's not always interested in talking about motorcycles and soforth, so all I can say is thank God for Google. =) That's how I found this place. Looking forward to getting to know you guys and gals, and who knows, maybe I can find a really really cheap but functioning beater to practice on! Sweet!
