Just picked up my first Harley a few days ago from our local shop. It's been a LONG time coming! She's a 2011 black & green Softail Deluxe.
I've been a long time multi-bike owner/rider but this is my first cruiser. Part of why I got a Harley is because I've long consider our Anchorage House of Harley THE friendliest bike shop in town. They've been extremely nice to me for many years and that includes dynoing my Ducati for free on my BD one year! I've actually felt kinda guilty for not having gotten a bike from them till now. They're also the most communally active shop not only for riders but also hosting events for Nonprofits and such. Great folks and I'm glad to now be even more a part of their "family."
I was lucky enough to get in a couple rides on my new baby before today's snowfall. I really wish I'd ridden yesterday as it was probably the last day to ride w/o studs or 3 wheels. I've ridden a studded tire KLR for 4 winters up here and my sig line has pics and stories of that and other rides around AK for those interested.
Here I am getting ready to take her out for a test ride a couple weeks ago.
And below is a video my Ducati riding brother shot of me leaving the shop. Yeah, I'm wearing a Vanson Dave Aldana replica suit that I got years ago as I thought it'd be more fun to wear than a neon vest to get driver's attention so as to not run me over. lol A good friend of mine and fellow Harley owner painted the matching helmet. Silly fun. I can't believe the shop let me ride through the crowd during their Biketoberfest celebration. Talk about some trust! And whadya know, I guess the skeleton suit is fitting here in my first post seeing how I'm joining and making my introduction on Halloween. Take care, Mark H.
