Smile Hello from Germany

Hi all,
my name is Werner, 52 years old, live in Southern Germany, ride Harleys since 1992 and I'm new to this forum. I am on 2 wheels since i was 15. After German, Italian and Japanese bike my dream came true in 92 when I bought my first Harley. It was a brand new 883 Sportster, which was bumped up to 1200cc after 6 month. This bike was a pain in the neck, because I had so many problems with it. 2 times frozzen pistons, damaged crank etc. But I loved that bike and keept it till 1999 when I noticed a crack in the frame. That was it. I went and wanted to get Electra Glide Standard. But the dealer made me an offer on a brand new Road King, which I could not resist (I liked the King better anyway). I traveld all over Europe and brought her to Milwaukee for the 100th and rode the Route 66 afterwards. This was a lifetime dream that came true. I put a lot of money in that baby and keept her in mint condition. In 2007 I decided to ad a Buell Ulysses to the Harley because I wanted a fast bike again. Still rode the King a lot. Then this July a stupid kid took my right away and ran me over. I ended in the hospital for 4 days and the bike was totaled. I was completly down. My beloved bike was gone. Of course I still had the Buell to ride, but totaly missed the Harley. Then in October I received some money from the insurance and decided to shop for a new bike. Because my wife got a new knee last year, she had a hard time to climb the King. So we thought to get a Fat Boy or a DeLuxe. When we got to the Harley dealer, we saw a White Hot Denim Street Glide in the showroom. We both loved it right away. But it had a sold tag on it. We tried some bikes and found a way for my wife to get on a bagger. Now we thougt about a Electra Glide Ultra Classic. Then the sales rep told us that he had another white Street Glide wich he could give us for a super price, because it was a 2011 model. I took it right away. We ordered a tour pack, heated grips and certain other accessorys for the money we had saved on the Ultra. Now I'm a happy camper again. to bad riding season is over.
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year to all of you.
Ride safe
Werner

Werner,

Welcome to the forum from the guys at WanaRyd.

I'm glad to hear you're ok after your accident, that's sounds like it was rough.

Gotta get over to Germany someday, never been myself - want to check out a Bayern Munich match in person.

Ryd Safe!

Welcome to the forum.

I just happened to see your "Hello From Germany" title line on the main page and it reminded me of a great time I had when I visited Germany. I was in high school and we were able to take a class trip to Germany because we were learning German. Anyway, there was about 25 of us and our day in Munich provided an option of A) touring the camp and Munich wiht the group or B) have a fee day in Munich. Needless to say me and 3 other "trouble makers" elected for the free day in Munich...I mean, why wouldn't we, we could drink beer there!!! Anyway our first stop was McDonald's and low and behold, they served beer there. This was also our last stop of the day....we spent all damn day drinking beer upstairs at McDonald's in Munich as 17 year old kids.

Sorry for the long story....but your thread just triggered this memory from 20 years ago.
Auf Wiedersehen!
Steve

Hey Werner. With a name like that, you belong on 2 Wheels (inside Joke for german People. There's a famous "Werner" comic about a biker). Welcome to the forum. Where exactly are you located?
