If the weather cooperates (at all) tomorrow, I will be taking my 08 Triumph Bonnie on my last ride on her up to Buford, GA where my new '12 Big Blue Heritage is waiting for me.
The Bonnie was my first bike and she has served me well. Wish I could keep her and add the Heritage, but you know how that goes.
My wife has figured out that this "mid-life" crisis of mine is not slowing down, and now she wants to join me. I'll be 52 in April. Just to be safe I am having the quick release hardware installed for the pillion backrest, and have ordered a Mustang rear fender bib. I'm sure most of my miles will be me and the Heritage, and I love the look of the bike with the solo seat only.
Adding an engine guard in the morning and having the heel shifter removed, at least for the 40 mile maiden voyage home. Would love to hear any thoughts/opinions on the heel/toe shift and how long it took you to get comfortable with it.
Really fired up to be this close to seeing HD ownership a reality! Love the forum.
Congrats on the new heritage i'm sure you going to love it. I've never ridden any thing by Harley other than my fbl and i fine it rides great so i know yours with ride as good are better from what i hear about them.
They are great looking bikes and i just can't seem to take my eye off of them when i go to the Harley shop. As for the toe and heel shift i thought i wouldn't like it but after trying it out for awhile i find it pretty comfortable using the heel and fine it a lot easier getting it in neutral using the heel, you'll have to try it for yourself to see if you'll like it, it may not be for everybody. Congrats. again on your new bike and have a safe ride home. Welcome aboard also..

Congrats on the new ride and welcome. Personally don't care for the heel shifter and always take it off. Hear also they often break from to much heel pressure. But as with everything, to each their own. Ride safe and have fun on the new Heritage, great bike!
Welcome! In addition to my 09 Ultra I have a 2006 Triumph T100 - great bike but you'll not miss her once you're in the saddle of the Harley.
I couldn't live without my heel shifter; I LOVE it. It does take a little bit to get used to it but now with over 30K on my Ultra I just can't imagine life without it.
