Hey!

Cool greets from Elmira, NY - Gary here. It's great to be around Harley people, especially since I'm a old guy but a novice rider. I had a Triumph chopper as a kid in the 70s but nothing since then. Last summer I decided to fulfill a lifelong dream of owning a real Harley Davidson. So I bought a 2005 Sportster 1200XL Custom and soon found it was a little small for me (I'm 6'2" and 260) so I extended the tubes 6" over and installed buckhorn handlebars. That helped a little, but now I need to kick out the front wheel - maybe make my 'chopper' a little longer - so I've been reading up on this rake/trail and triple trees vs bearing cups info. It seems that a rake of 5* (or more) is what I need and bearing cups are safest. Any idea where I can buy 5* bearing cups that will fit my year of Sportster?

Any help would be greatly appreciated AND if there is anything I can do to help you, in any way, I'd be more than happy to oblige.

Hey Gary --- Welcome aboard from your practically next-door neighbor, down here in Wellsboro. Can't help you with bearing cups, but I know who probably can. Go back to the main menu of forums. Scroll down to the Harley Davidson Motorcycles section, and there's a Sportster Models section. Post your question in there. Might be more "traffic" there than in here.
