Hi again all i am still trying to solve earlier issue, i have since discovered, the diaphragm which is for the crank case breather valve near oil filter mount into back of carby, and has a pressure regulator valve near pressure regulating switch, does anyone know how do you check if the diaphragm valve is ok? I feel this could be worn and is letting to much oil /air pass through and hence speawing oil out base of airfilter backing plate??? Anyone know??
I looked at carb, air filter and oil pump. Does your bike have the baffle system in the airfilter body like this picture. What part on carb are you talking about. Note two stage oil pump. Large one is return to your tank. Interesting that only 1200 in USA is a California bike. If that what they sold down there in 88
Thank you and a very warm welcome to you from far nthern coast of nsw byron bay, for some reason i cannot view the pics you sent
its the breather that goes from the near the oil filter body(the far rhs the oil filter body out of front of lifter gear case to back of air filter body, no baffle the pump is 2 stage and yes larger part is return to oil tank, there is after taking cam gear cover, there is a diaphragm valve at top front which i think regulates how much air/oil comes out of breather hose which goes into rear lower of air filter body, which is a 5/16 aprox fiting with a hole into air filter,, i think this diaphragm valve is the problem it has open rubber sealing disc and 1 side isnt shutting????? I think this is why it started blowing 1st air and after 20 mns oil to much air than normal!!!!thanx for yer help, what do you think does that make sense??

Since I do not do a lot of work on Sporty's and am just going bythe manual and part fish I am a little confused in what you are referring to. I posted the carb and do not really see what your are referring to. After you have posted 5-10 post, and been around about couple weeks, the system man will fix you so you see the attachments. They want to make sure you are interested here before they go to the trouble since most all are volunteer. You will see it shortly. Get back with me then.
yey i have solved the problem on my 88 1200 sporty, theres a diaphragm valve inside the gear case that comes out and goes to back of air fiter backing plate, this valve has 3 parts to it that had a split rubber disc, which regulates amount of air that leaves case,,,,,,,,,,,
