Name is Leigh... hailing from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Originally from Poughkeepsie, NY. I'm active duty Army so I move around a lot.
In the next few weeks I will be buying my first road bike, a HD Fourty Eight (2010 used). I've been riding dirtbikes on and offroad since I was 12... But never got around to pulling the trigger on an actual road bike. I planned on getting a brand spanking new HD Blackline when I got back from Iraq... ended up putting the money into turning my Xterra into a monster instead.
Now I am getting ready to deploy sometime within the next 6 months. Figure it would be a nice time to get used to riding on the streets on a no-**** road bike. Weather is great (read: hot) and the time is right. I am "tentatively" planning on finnaly pulling the trigger on a brand new HD Blackline when I get back from said deployment. Thats only if I decide I want to go bigger than the sportster. I am a somewhat bigger guy 6'1" 240lbs so I have a feeling I am going to want more ponies.
Welcome, must be at Fort Carson down there ? I am airforce and was at Petersen AB for 4 years. You have some awesome riding country down there, Cripple Creek rally and some nice front range rides. Been keeping posted by my friends down there on the fires, sorry to see so much damage. Keep safe both there and over in the sandpit as that is a real nasty place to pull a tour. Cheers.
Welcome from Oregon! I've lived in Denver and Lamar. The Springs is burning up in the news, too bad. I love the sportys and plan to move down soon. But you are too big, really. Get something bigger in size for comfort. It is not the HP, just total bike size you will want. Thanks for your service. I was USAF. My son is USMC.
