Hello all
I am new to this site and new HD owner (93 Heritgae Softtail Classic) that likes to do my own work or as much of as I can as I hate the price HD dealerships charge for labor and parts. So from time to time I will ask question and will respect and look at all replies. My lastest project on the bike was to re-blacken the motor and got some good advice from another rider and it worked very nice for me as it was fairly cheap in cost and came out great. I will post a new pictures of it as soon as I get a new one made of it, just finished it tonight. My next project is a bit harder though ( I have a post on it) fitting the bike for a frame follwer oil cooler and braided oil lines. I already have the cooler but talking with a braided line company they say I need to be concerened with the clearance need to put on the ends for the hose and would like info on this subbject. Thanks for you time and effort to help resovle this.

I think you are referring to the clearance needed to attach the hoses with the fancy ends to the cooler. If the cooler connections are too close to the frame there won't be enough clearance for the hose ends. If you used plain ol' hose clamps there would be no clearance problems. But the stainless braided hoses are usually used with ends that are larger diameter, thus the potential clearance problem.
The clearance on the oil cooler side is not going to be a problem but the other end is the ones I am wondering about. Well see I had this nice idea since I was putting this cooler on myself I would also replace all the oil lines with braided lines and the nice colorful fittings you see on some nice street rods. On the oil cooler I would use a fitting that just screws directly into the cooler. (A.N.Fittings) The place I contacted about the hose (www.paragonperformance.com) told me I need to check my clearance for the fittings needed to put on the other ends of the hose he also told me I could not use normal clamps on this type of hose. I believe the type of fitting I need on the other end is a compression fitting (hose locks), I can see the clearance on some spots are fairly close. I just thought I was not the first person that wanted to put braided lines thru-out a bike and was hoping to find someone that has done this and tell me yes it can be done and perhaps some advice but then again perhaps just a good rubber will do.
Thanks for you time.

Paragon makes some top notch hose assemblies, but they are way pricey! Evidently you're wanting to use pre-fabbed hose assemblies with AN fittings, and not the more common bulk type hose with the regular worm gear clamps hidden inside a cover (Econo fittings is one name) to make it look like the prefabbed assemblies.
Most time the braided stainless hoses you see on typical riding bikes are from a kit made for that particular bike, or if'n yer a tightwad like me, from bulk hose cut to length, and fitted with the econo type clamps.
